IBM ProtecTIER V3.3 Workshop with NFS and CIFS Functionality

Overview

IBM ProtecTIER Enterprise Edition and ProtecTIER Appliance Edition V3.3 software introduce the network file system (NFS) backup interface for customers with network attached storage (NAS) backup environments. This workshop will focus on this new NFS functionality as well as on the existing common information file system (CIFS) functionality that came with V3.2. It will cover the topic of replication between ProtecTIER systems using either the CIFS or NFS file system interface (FSI). The workshop also discusses the new fully automated, wizard-based ProtecTIER server code upgrade facility using the ProtecTIER Manager GUI with hands-on practical experience. General topics like duplication, ProtecTIER Virtual tape Library (VTL) and Open Storage API (OST) will NOT be covered.

This intermediate course is for IBM personnel or IBM Business Partners.

Prerequisits

You should have:

• A good understanding or ideally, working knowledge, of concepts and processes to deploy a ProtecTIER deduplication solution

Work experience with backup software like NetBackup or TSM would also be of benefit, along with a good understanding of the basic concepts of physical and virtual tape libraries.
